Spa is not bad for sure... I think I'll go and set some laps there in a few cars and report back

Quote from BlueFlame :It's like saying Alain Prost is handsome, apart from his bent up nose.

Owen Wilson has still had quite a successful career on the big screen despite his nose!

Nice! I've met Darryl a couple of times... he went to the same autocross club as me back before he got into 'proper' racing He's been back to the club since he made it big, been nice finding out more about what he does now.

You've done some awesome work, JJ!

Quote from MAGGOT :Just a wonderful circuit to drive in a game, and I'd imagine in real life, too.

I can attest to that! I've enjoyed driving it in GPL and GT4, but driving it in real life after 10 years of dreaming about it was amazing

I've played IoM in GPL, and also in that Suzuki IoM game for the PS2, and find that an amazing track too. Driving the 'Ring in real life wasn't really scary, but I just could not imagine doing the IoM on a bike!

Funny thing is it's supposedly going to be lighter than this...

And that has no batteries or motor :P

Cool Battery technology will have to come a long way I think, and even if it does, a 5.5lb weight looks incredibly optimistic! But I guess who knows what the future will hold.

Quote from AJS :ive never been riding a motorbike/scooter before so in driving school i spent my first 4 hours at the practice ground on a 125ccm bike then moved to the 250ccm for 2 hours and then to the 500ccm. Kawasaki ER-5 (50HP). because i had to ride a "big" bike to get the license for the unrestricted class over 34 HP.

i feel comfy with it also in traffic. and im 1.96 m tall so i guess a 250ccm Ninja is a bit small.

Kawasaki ER-5 is a good beginner bike but i rather want to buy something more fun

another option would be a 400ccm Enduro. actually the 125ccm was the most fun from the driving school bikes cause it was Enduro style bike and the fast slalom was very cool with it.

Yeah I found the Ninja 250 small for me and I'm not as tall as you. I had a Suzuki DRZ400S for a while and loved it. Nice and spacious, great for a tall guy, comfortable riding position, and a LOT of fun to ride. An enduro or dual sport can definitely be a lot of fun at much lower speeds than a sportbike...

Quote from AJS :Nice bike. just about that wheelie stuff... no good memories about that. a rider ended crashing into my beloved E30 318is after such a stunt.

yo anyway. i did the license myself now. and i hope ill get it in about 2 weeks. i think i could write a book now about my story trying to get a hungarian license...

Honda CBR600F4i good as a first bike ?

Well there's a time and a place for stuff like wheelies, definitely not good when you've got traffic or people around for sure.

An F4i would be 'okay' as a first bike, some people say it'll be fine, some would say get something like a 125 or a 250 as a first bike. I would stay away from a 600 myself, and find an old Ninja 250 or something like that to play around on for a few months at least, then think about something bigger if you're ready.

Nice, how are you liking it? Looks like the avatar I made for ya is going to be out of date now, haha :P Don't think we can easily fit 3 bikes in such a small space

Yeah I've really been enjoying the Corsair so far! I love how nice and slow it flies, and it's really stable and easy to fly. Seems a lot of people just go full speed everywhere, but I like the more 'scale' appearance of flying slowly.

Oh yeah, I've seen that video, nice one! Coincidently it was filmed a 20 minute drive from where I live I'm hoping one of my friends picks up a similar plane so we can start doing some formation stuff like that, looks like fun!

I used to have a Tamiya 1/10th scale RC that I raced indoors back when I used to live in England... and a couple of other fun little rc cars. I had two chassis for sale a few years ago and one sold locally but another sold to a guy in California... apparently they're really a really popular chassis for drifting.

Since the cars I've had a couple of helis, and after I realized I didn't have the patience to learn about repairs and setup I sold them and bought a plane Here's a video of the plane...

Great find! I recognize the voice of the commentator, I think he's the same guy who did the "Car Wars" series I have on VHS, full of racing crashes.

Wow, just looking back at my old autox courses and I didn't see these two posts before! I think by the time they were posted, the thread was off my radar. So I'm bringing this one back to say hi...

Drifter... that's really neat! Are you still autocrossing? And doing the frozen autox in the winter?

and b-dog, shame I didn't see your post, it would have been cool to run the course online! Haha maybe another time.

So an update from me... The event in Jan 2006 was one of my first autocrosses ever. It could have been my first. In 2006 I went on to do the Novice Championship, which I won. I got a free set of race tires for that which was sweet. Then in 2007 I won the CSP class in Canadian Nationals. Since then I've just done the occasional event, but done quite a bit of instructing novices which has been a lot of fun. I've had the chance to drive a lot of fun cars and meet a lot of great people. This year is kind of my 'comeback' since I haven't really competed since 07. I'm going to be competing in STS in a Miata with a good friend of mine. Should be a fun year and we should be nice and competitive!

I will be getting some more autox courses up for LFS soon too, so look out

Ok I have got to get back into LFS autocross and give some more of your layouts a go! And maybe make some more myself. I haven't made any since I did the ones for the LFS Autox competition, how long ago was that now??

I am doing land surveying now these days and planning to take an instrument out to one of our autox events and survey the course so I can get it into LFS to the nearest cm. I need to look at that external software for autox again, but I presume you can import a .csv or whatever with (x,y) coordinates to make your layout.

Then the next step would be to get onboard video of the real thing and of LFS, see how closely it compares Maybe create a car the same as mine using LFS Tweak!

Yeah it was rather damp to say the least! The Fit was on 175 winter tires which cut through the standing water pretty well. The Miata tires weren't quite as well suited to the conditions but did fine. Unfortunately the turbo on this one spools up pretty slowly and it really doesn't have anything to give below 4000rpm, so my sideways antics were more restricted than I would have liked exiting the slower corners But it was my first run in the car so it's all good.
